A month of vegetarianism begins with a slice of Lahm (and the slaughtering of Turkey)

A thrilling 3-2 game, that last goal, a stupid bet, and suddenly I was to be vegetarian for an entire month.

After coming rather close to winning £268 on the Croatia v Germany game in Euro 2008 but for a late goal by Germany spoiling everything, I had decided to religiously bet against Germany in every subsequent game in the tournament until they lose.

When I got to the pub for the Germany Turkey game, I realised that I had carelessly forgotten to go to the bookmakers to make my anti-Germany bet. After a failed attempt at getting onto http://www.betfair.com on a mobile phone (which costed £3 for a poor girl's mobile account), I had decided I had to bet on something and, having pretty much not gone a single day without meat for several years, the forfeit of becoming vegetarian was certainly something.

At first it was only going to be a week (which was going to be HARD), but after some suggestions and my inability to decline challenges, the week had become a month of what would forever be remembered as the summer of non-meat content. This blog will serve as the photo diary of the adventures of this rookie, unwilling veggie.

At least fucking Germany lost in the final.
